1. What is Vietnam’s e-Visa?
Vietnam’s e-Visa is one of several visa types offered by the Vietnam Immigration Department to foreigners entering the country. The e-Visa is valid for 30 days, and single entry only. The e-Visa costs 25 USD for card payments. It requires three full working days to process. As of July 2020, Vietnam’s e-Visa is available to nationals of 80 countries.

Before applying, make sure your nationality is one of those approved for Vietnam’s e-Visa:

Vietnam e-Visa Requirements:
- A passport with six (6) months’ validity
- A photo in .jpg format of your full passport data page
- A passport photo in .jpg format (4×6, white background, without glasses)
- A valid international credit or debit card
- An email address for support purposes
- A temporary address within Vietnam
- Your entry and exit dates and entry and exit points/airports
3. How to Apply for Vietnam’s e-Visa

- Upload .jpg images of your passport data page and passport photo
- Fill up all required info from your passport data page
- Fill up all required info regarding your trip
- Pay the e-Visa fee using any of the payment methods offered
- Receive your registration code and save the number
4. Where to Download Your Vietnam e-Visa
After applying for your e-Visa online, you’ll need to waitthree working days for your visa to be released. After three days, you may search for your visa at this link.
Enter your registration code, email, and date of birth to gain lvness to your visa. Download the .pdf file and print your e-Visa in two copies for safety when travelling. If three working days have passed and your visa is still unavailable, email Vietnam’s e-Visa Support at this page.
5. How to Use Your e-Visa in Vietnam
Your e-Visa is valid for entry at any of 28 international checkpoints within the country, including eight international airports. For the full list of airports, seaports and border crossings where the e-Visa is lvnepted.
Upon arrival in Vietnam, submit your passport and your printed e-Visa at the immigration counter.
6. Common Questions about e-Visas
6.1. What if my country is not eligible for the e-Visa?
If your country is not on the list of 80 countries that can apply for the Vietnam e-Visa, check Vietnam Tourism’s site to see if your country is eligible for a Vietnam visa exemption or visa waiver.
Important note: We always advise everyone to also send a quick email or call the embassy in their country just to double-check. Visa rules are constantly changing, and Vietnam has changed quite a few in the last year(s).
6.2. How long can I stay in Vietnam with the e-Visa?
In 2023, the Vietnam e-Visa allows you a single entry and a stay of a maximum of 30 days.
6.3. How to apply for the Vietnam e-Visa in 2023?
The Vietnam e-Visa application is straightforward, completely done, and paid for online, with results received within three working days.
Below is the step-by-step process for applying for the e-Visa.
Step 1: Visit the official e-Visa application form
Step 2: Fill out the e-Visa application form
Fill out the information required to apply for the e-Visa:
- Portrait photo
- Passport data page photo
- Personal information (name, sex, date of birth, address, nationality)
- Contact information (phone, email)
- Passport number, type, and expiry
- Intended temporary residential address (address of the hotel you plan on booking)
- Purpose of entry (choose tourism)
- Date of entry
- Date of exit (max 30 days from date of entry)
- Entry and exit checkpoint
Make sure to:
- Write your name entirely (first name, middle, and last name)
- Fill out the intended temporary residential address, as it’s a requirement, and you will be asked to provide information if you leave it empty. You can find the address of your first hotel and use that (even if you haven’t booked yet).
- Double and triple-check all the information
Step 3: Submit the application and pay the $25 fee

6.4. What are the Vietnam e-Visa Requirements?
The basic requirements you need to meet before applying for a Vietnam e-Visa are:
- Passport valid for at least 6 more months after arrival date with at least 2 blank pages
- Photo of passport personal data page
- Portrait photo of yourself (facing forward, no glasses, white background)
- Ability to pay online with a credit or debit card
6.5. How far in advance should I apply for the Vietnam e-Visa?
Usually, you will get your Vietnam e-Visa in 3 working days, but we recommend applying for your Vietnam e-Visa at least 10 to 14 days before your planned arrival, so you have enough time if it takes longer.
It took us eight days in total from applying to receiving results, as there were holidays in between, so definitely make sure to plan lvnordingly.
