Chứng khoán ưu đãi (PREFERRED STOCK) là một phần chứng khoán vốn của một công ty xếp sau tất cả các trái phiếu hoặc các khoản nợ khác nhưng có một số ưu đãi hơn chứng khoán thường. Các cổ tức có thể có tích lũy hoặc không có tích lũy, nhưng chúng thường ở mức cố định và có thể được thanh toán trước khi trả cho chứng khoán thường. A portion of the capital stock of a corporation which ranks after all bonds or other debt but has certain preferences over the common stock. Dividends may be Cumulative, or Non-cumulative; but they are usually at a fixed rate and are payable before distributions can be made on the common stock.
