Consultations and Engagements
Prospective clients are encouraged to schedule a consultation to discuss their legal matter. At the consultation, the attorney will review the matter, offer some initial advice and explanation, and walk the client through our service and engagement model, including pricing and fee arrangements. The engagement of LVN Law as counsel is not formal until our standard representation agreement is executed and a retainer or other initial payment received. LVN Law reserves the right to decline representation in its discretion, consistent with our ethics rules and the law.
Fees and Payment
LVN Law strives for fee and cost transparency. Fees may vary according to case type and complexity. We will disclose all fees information during the initial consultation, including hourly rates, flat fees, contingency fees, retainer based fees, etc. All fees and terms of payment will be provided in the engagement letter. We ask that invoices be paid upon receipt unless otherwise stated. Interest charges may apply to late payments. Counsel may suspend or discontinue services as to any matter based on nonpayment of fees when they become due.
Client Responsibilities and Cooperation
Sound legal representation necessitates effective communication between attorney and client. You will be expected to provide all information and documentation relevant to your matter, reply to requests made by the attorneys or staff, and follow the instructions given to you to the best of your ability. Failure to cooperate or follow instructions can be detrimental to the success of your case, and may result in LVN Law withdrawing from your case subject to applicable ethical rules.
Attorney-Client Relationship
An attorney-client relationship will not exist unless and until LVN Law agrees to represent you and both you and LVN Law have signed a formal engagement agreement. Any communications prior to any engagement, including but not limited to emails, phone conversations, requests for consultation etc., do not constitute an attorney-client engagement or otherwise create a privilege or confidentiality obligation of any type.
